गुरुभ्यो नमः · To the masters

Saints, Sages & Spiritual Masters of India

As a child, I remember seeing the saints of India together in one picture. I cannot remember where. But the feeling stayed: so many teachers, held in the same affection.

Thirty-six named portraits of India's saints and spiritual masters, including Adi Shankaracharya, Guru Nanak, Kabir, Mirabai, Ramakrishna, Vivekananda, Ramana Maharshi, Mahavatar Babaji, Yogananda and Neem Karoli Baba, with dates beneath each portrait.
36 portraits, from the older devotional traditions to the teachers I grew up recognising.

A memory, gathered again

This collage brings together a selection of masters from different traditions. Some share a guru–disciple lineage; many followed independent paths. It is a personal gathering, not an exhaustive list.

The portraits are AI-painted interpretations, not archival photographs. Dates marked “c.” are approximate; some follow traditional accounts. Where a lifespan is unknown or undocumented, the label says so.

Which of these faces do you remember from your childhood?
